The Automated Phone Curse

A comment from one of our clients after a month with us.

Thank you Kendlebell Luton, I thought I should write to you about this curse that had struck my business and the cure for it.

Now I reflect back and realise that by definition, automation is de-personalising, this is fine for all those impersonal activities that need doing-assembling machines, adding up numbers, keeping records. But answering the phone does that need de-personalising?

I was worried sick as to why my business was not growing, I thought I had planned everything to meticulous details but something was wrong. It was by chance when chatting with a customer that I got an inkling of my problem. He commented on my impersonal phone answering system I advised him that it was “state of the art” and had come highly recommended by the company I bought my system from!! Evolution of the virtual phone answering service

No Brainer

This is a comment I’ve been hearing a lot recently from new clients that have signed for our service. This is what they are commenting on:

Basic costs for employing a member of staff

Basic cost for member 1 full time member of staff excluding holiday and sickness cost. Additional costs to take into account are workspace and equipment. What happens if they call in sick or are on holiday, you are left without cover.

£5.75 per hour x 8 hours x 5 days x 52 weeks = £11600 per annum

Walking the dog

I recently called a company for a service that I needed, when I got through to them the owner said that he was walking his dog and did not have anything to write on to take my details, so could I call him back. I was a bit miffed by this, I understand people should take time out but I strongly feel that if you set up a business and you advertise your services then have the courtesy to be able to take the call professionally, not expect the caller to call you back because you’re not organised.

Businesses like this could do with our friendly but professional telephone answering service, because while they are walking their dogs they can switch to us at Kendlebell Luton and we would take the call, answer it in their company name and forward the message with all the callers’ details for them to call back when convenient. This way they are open when they are busy and they capture business they may have otherwise lost to a competitor.  Our service starts from £35 per month and provides users with a safety net, so they can switch to us when they are unable to take calls, e.g. when they are walking their dog and then when they are able to take calls they switch it back to themselves.
